The Music

The album Te Whiri was produced in the 6 months prior to the exhibition opening on June 10th, 2005.

The key creative team for this project were Teresa Connors, Rangiiria Hedley, Bernard Makoare & Michael Hennessy with additional contributions by Keri Ratima, Wihapi Te Amohau Winiata, Huhana (Bubbles) Mihinui and Jill Kenny.

The album was inspired by the taonga in the exhibition - and the title of the album is intended to convey the weaving together and binding of all the elements of this project; taonga puoro and modern instrument, Maori and Pakeha, taonga and Mair, ancestor and descendant, past and present into the final result which is — Te Whiri.

It is something we are very proud of. For more information please visit — www.tewhiri.com. You can order a copy of the CD by emailing us here at the Auckland Museum, or via the Te Whiri website.
