VENUE
Please gather in the southern atrium outside the Wonderland exhibit (sessions will be held either in the exhibit or in the auditorium).

BOOKINGS
Bookings for each event are essential unless you hold a Season Pass.  Book online now or phone 09 306 7048. (Please note a $3.00 booking fee applies).

DOOR SALES
On the day of the event tickets may not be purchased online or over the phone.  If tickets still remain, you may purchase them from any Museum ticket desk, however we strongly recommend booking in advance.

SEASON PASS
If you are interested in attending more than 8 sessions (there are 11 altogether) – we recommend that you purchase a season pass for savings of up to $36!

Please note: If you book a Season Pass you will be eligible to attend any Fabulous Friday session. You are not required to book for single events.

Fabulous Fridays are suitable for persons 18 years and over.

Please note:  Bookings for the 2pm sessions of Fabulous Fridays are currently unavailable. Please check back at a later date.  All Fabulous Fridays events are presentations, with the exception of 2 & 9 October, which are hands-on workshops and require an additional materials charge.

Maggie Barry:  Wonderland The New Zealand Garden

21 AUGUST | 11AM

Maggie Barry launches our Fabulous Fridays Wonderland season with a special panel discussion featuring some of the country’s best-known gardening experts, including Jack Hobbs, Xanthe White and renowned orchid expert Alf Day. Together they’ll discuss the mystery of orchids and the Wonderland of New Zealand gardens.

Fionna Hill:  Arranging Orchids

28 AUGUST + 4, 11, 18 SEPTEMBER | 11AM

Fionna Hill is a well-known Auckland floral decorator brimming with creativity. She’s a regular contributor to the NZ House & Garden home decorating pages. Her book Country Style Flowers sold over 60,000 copies internationally. She also collaborated with Jo Seagar on the book Celebrations. In this workshop, Fionna demonstrates how to use fl owers and a plethora of other accessories to create beautiful orchid-themed floral arrangements.

Jeff Lockhart :  Orchid Craft Personalising Paper

25 SEPTEMBER | 11AM

Designer Jeff Lockhart demonstrates how to personalise stationery using the orchid as a sumptuous motif.

Louise Hatchard: Orchid Craft The Art of Fine Stitching

2 OCTOBER | 11AM

With a background in advertising and design, Louise Hatchard runs her own popular blog, Prairie Mouse, in which she documents her daily craft activities, and is known for her ability to master any craft form, be it fabric design, felting, stitching or decorating. Louise will inform and entertain whilst demonstrating that creativity is achievable for anyone who puts their hand to it. Lorraine Meissner:  Orchid Craft The Art of Decoupage

9 OCTOBER | 11AM

Lorraine Meisner, who owns the company Creative Stuff, illustrates how to perfect the art of découpage – utilising coloured paper cut-outs to create new designs. This skill has gained enormous interest since the craft resurgence, and Lorraine will demonstrate, using orchids as the theme, just how fun and accessible découpage can be. Jenny Nicholls:  Orchid Craft The Art of Cake Decorating

16 OCTOBER | 11AM

Jenny Nicholls’ fascination with cake decorating led her to embrace it full time through her company For Heaven’s Cake. Jenny will demonstrate how simple, innovative ideas can capture the imagination, from a single sugar rose on a cupcake to a rosestrewn floral handbag.

Jo Malone stylist:  Creating Your Own Unique Fragrance

23, 30 OCTOBER | 11AM

The Jo Malone philosophy of Fragrance Combining™ gives you the freedom to express yourself and your individuality. In this session, learn fascinating fragrance tips from a Jo Malone stylist, including how to create your own signature scent.

Claudia Kozub: ORCHID CRAFT The Art of Gift Wrapping

As we head towards Christmas, why not turn to flowers for inspiration when wrapping gifts? Claudia has been a stylist for a number of years, specialising in interiors as well as wedding and event styling. Her work often graces the pages of such magazines as NZ House & Garden. She will demonstrate how to wrap gifts in exciting new ways.

Auckland’s top flower stylist returns – this time bringing her unique flair to a session on gift presentation -including wrapping, tying, trimming and other creative ideas..

Claudia’s company Style etc specialises in creating wonderful table settings. For this session, she returns with some creative approaches to setting the scene this Christmas using a selection of items from Freedom Furniture.
