Art Pathway
The Art pathway reveals why roses have been celebrated in poetry, art and fashion for thousands of years. Stories of roses appear in cultures across the millennia.

The fragrance and beauty of the flower has seen the rose associated with a host of heavenly beings, from ancient Greek goddesses to Christian saints. In art and literature the rose symbolises sentiments of romantic love as well cycles of life and death.
Through art, artefacts, jewellery and treasured objects the Art pathway explores the cultural meanings of roses. The romance, passion and magic of the rose is revealed in three exquisite digital stories performed by the marvellous Mika.
Recited love poems fill the air, two hundred years of rose inspired fashion dresses, from the age of Napoleon to modern times, line the exhibition walls along with the most spectacular, beautiful and exquisite rose related objects in the Museum’s rich collection. |
