Children & families |
Family events are regularly held on weekends and during school holidays. Trails and activity sheets are available from the information desks. Our Stevenson Childrens Discovery Centre Weird & Wonderful is located on Level One and offers a wide range of hands-on fun and learning activities. Baby changing stations are located in the toilets. Coat & bag check-in |
For the comfort and safety of visitors and collections, large bags, backpacks and tripods cannot be taken into the galleries. Your possessions will be safe in the security locker holding areas.
At the northern entrance to the museum, cloakrooms are located within the Visitor Lounge in the Grand Foyer entrance. The Museum reserves the right to require bags and motorcycle helmets be deposited here, for security reasons.
At the southern entrance to the museum, a coin operated locker is located in the Atrium, on the right as you enter the museum. |

Eating and drinking |
No food or drink is allowed to be taken into the galleries. Eating or drinking in the galleries is not permitted.
There are several options for families looking for somewhere to feed their children including the Atrium at the southern end of the museum, the Welcome Lounge at the northern end of the museum and from mid-January 2013 there will be a dedicated family space, The Kai Room on Level One.
There is a cafe at Auckland Museum: the Columbus Cafe in the new Atrium. Open daily from 10am to 5pm offering fresh fare and licensed to serve beer and wine. |

First aid |
A First Aid kit is located in the coat and bag check-in at the Foyer entrance, or ask any Museum representative for assistance. |

Information desk |
Staffed by Museum volunteers, the information desk is located in the Foyer and new Atrium spaces on the ground floor. Ask here for information on anything you need while at the Museum. |

Lost property |
The lost property desk is located within the Visitor Lounge in the Grand Foyer entrance. |

Photography/filming |
Photography with flash and video recording is permitted in most galleries for private purposes only, using hand-held equipment. Tripods are not permitted in the galleries. Videos may not be used in the Maori cultural performance. Bookings are essential for all Commercial photography and charges apply. Click here for more information. |

Shopping |
The Museum Shops are located in the Foyer and new Atrium on the ground floor, open everyday from 10am to 5pm. |

Smoking |
Not permitted in any area of the Museum at any time. |

Taxi |
A free taxi phone is provided in Foyer entrance. Information desk staff are also happy to assist. |

Telephones |
Telephones are located to either side of the Foyer on the ground floor. |

Toilets |
Toilets are located on the ground floor of both main entrances and also available on Level one. Toilets suitable for disabled visitors are also available at these locations. Baby changing stations are located in the toilets. |

Visitor guide brochures |
Visitor Guides in English are generally distributed at the cashier desks but are also available in German, French, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Spanish. The friendly Museum staff will be pleased to help visitors with language needs. |
