Sponsorship & SupportGoverned by a Trust Board created under an act of parliament in 1996, the Museum receives no funding from central Government. It is funded solely from Aucklands seven local councils, known as Territorial Local Authorities (councils) of Auckland; Auckland City, North Shore City, Franklin, Papakura, Waitakere, Rodney and Manukau (councils) of Auckland; Auckland City, North Shore City, Franklin, Papakura, Waitakere, Rodney and Manukau, and from revenue generated by the Museum itself.
