Audiovisual support for your event
Your event can be supported by Multi-Media, our preferred audiovisual team who are familiar with the venues, and can be relied on to make your event seamless and special. If you would like to use another supplier, you will require a Multi-Media house technician to help you set up and and pack-out. This service is charged at $60 + GST per hour for a minimum of three hours.
Event catering and wedding packages
Contact one of our four accredited venue caterers to choose your sumptuous food and drink, table settings and furniture: Austin’s Food Design Events, Urban Gourmet, Dawsons Catering or SKYCITY Catering & Events. Click here to see their special wedding packages. Please be aware that self-catering is not possible at the Museum and you will need to choose one of our four caterers.
Beverages may be purchased through your chosen caterer or you may Bring Your Own. The cost to BYO is $16.00 per person plus GST.
Auckland Museum contains treasures from across New Zealand and around the world. These must be protected, so events held in our venues require security hosts. They must be on-site for your event from the time you set up until you pack out. You’ll find them friendly and unobtrusive – they’re there to keep your guests and our venues safe. Security is provided inside the Museum only, not the car park and is charged at $30 + GST per hour, per host. This cost will be included in any wedding packages.
Smoking and other prohibited items
Smoking, smoke machines, dry ice, naked flames, including candles, and burning substances like incense are not permitted anywhere in the Museum. Helium balloons are also not permitted.
To keep us compliant with all current legislation, you must ensure that all electrical appliances used in the Museum carry current electrical test tags. Any electrical equipment found not displaying these tags will be removed from the building.

Auckland Museum’s car park is available for your guests at an hourly rate, or you can pre-purchase all-evening parking at $9 per car.
Parking is also available near the Museum. Rates for these parks vary, but they are unmetered after 6pm, until midnight. Parking in the Domain is not permitted after 10pm.
Venue hire is available for corporate and private customers. It is understood that the organiser will conduct their event in an orderly manner, in full compliance with all applicable laws.
The Museum reserves the right to exclude or remove any objectionable persons from the event or Museum premises without the organiser’s permission and without liability.
If the Museum has reason to believe that an event will affect the smooth running of the Museum’s business, its security or reputation, it reserves the right to cancel the event without liability.
Organisers are financially responsible for any damage sustained to the Museum premises or equipment by the organiser, organiser’s guests, invitees, outside contractors or other persons attending the event, whether in the room reserved or in any area or part of the Museum, prior to, during, or after the event.
Auckland Museum is fully insured.
