The Institute operates the Friends of Auckland Museum and has been the Auckland Branch of the Royal Society of New Zealand since1868 .  These partnerships provide rich opportunities to participate in Museum life, and to hear from excellent local and international speakers on a broad range of topics. In addition to lectures, we organise field trips, family events and behind-the-scenes opportunities.  Members receive early notification of Museum, Institute and Royal Society events via regular email updates and offers, enabling preferential and discounted booking.

Up to two adults and up to 6 children at the same address. Children under 13 years automatically become members of the Stevenson Dinomites Club and enjoy advance notice of holiday programmes, priority booking, members’ discounts and invitations to exclusive Dinomites events.

The Auckland Museum Institute operates Friends of the Auckland Museum®.  The Institute is a charitable entity founded in 1867 to inspire interest in science, literature and history, and is the Auckland Branch of the Royal Society of New Zealand.  It's elected council has the right to appoint four members of the Auckland Museum Trust Board.


Friends of the Museum are entitled to early notification and preferential booking for popular events such as the Professor Lord Robert Winston Hood Fellowship Lecture in 2007.
