THE COUNCIL OF THE AUCKLAND MUSEUM INSTITUTE
GIVES NOTICE OF THE 139th ANNUALGENERAL MEETING

November 28th, 2007

The next AGM will be on November 28th, 6.30pm, in the Auditorium.  In preparation for the Council elections that precede this, there was a Special General Meeting on July 21st to change the Rules in order to simplify voting.

COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Nominations for Institute Council are currently being received.  Serving on the Institute Council interests those who want even greater connection with the Museum.  The commitment is a minimum of about 6 hours per month - more for those with more time and inclination and there are many rewards.

If you would like to know more about what is involved or would like a Nomination Form, please contact Alison Barnett Ph: 302 6249

RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

At last November’s Council election, it became clear that the rules governing election procedures need updating. The Institute Council proposed and amendment to the Rules which was unanimously agreed at a Special General Meeting held on Saturday, July 21st, 2007
The new amended Rules are below.

5.9 Each voting paper shall be signed by the voter and posted or delivered in a sealed envelope  to be in the hands of the Secretary 3 days before the Annual General Meeting.
14.1 The Annual General Meeting shall be convened by circular or advertisement. It shall be the duty of the Council to distribute to all members (by post or electronically) at least 16 days prior to this meeting a report of the proceedings for the previous year, together with a balance sheet and income and expenditure account.

More on Members’ Lounge Access

As many members are aware, there has been a policy change since the introduction of the lounge access cards; there will be no surcharge as was originally planned. It may be that at some point in the future there will be an extra charge for cards but it has now been decided to allow free lounge access.  With this new policy it has also been decided that there will be just one card per membership for ease of administration and to limit cost.  It would be appreciated if those memberships with more than one card could return cards with the lowest number as these will be deactivated in the near future.
