Housed in one of the country's finest heritage buildings, the Museum's three floors tell the story of New Zealand. From the great Polynesian voyages which first brought people to Aotearoa, to the the remarkable flora, fauna and geography of our unique islands to the the story of New Zealand's involvement in wars from the New Zealand Wars to East Timor.

KAI TO PIE: AUCKLAND ON YOUR PLATE

Kai to Pie is an exhibition and events programme that celebrates Auckland’s extraordinary wealth of people and cultures, its fertile abundance of land, sun and sea, all through the lens of food.

ILLUSTRATED LEAVES

Illustrated Leaves, an exhibition of florilegia from the 16th to 21st centuries at Auckland Museum. Illustrated Leaves presents six centuries of plant anthologies and explores the evolving intentions behind their production.

LUCY CRANWELL: WALK ON THE WILD SIDE

Lucy Cranwell: Walk on the Wild Side investigates how Cranwell, one of New Zealand’s first female scientists, earnt international acclaim for her groundbreaking work on the reconstruction of ancient botanical landscapes of the southern hemisphere. Opens Friday 19 March.

OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNE IS COMING TO AUCKLAND MUSEUM

Auckland Museum and South Pacific Pictures have joined forces to create Outrageous Fortune: Journey to the Wests, an exclusive summer exhibition that will give Museum visitors the chance to step into the West family’s living room, go behind-the-scenes and get an intimate understanding of the incredible complexities that comprise New Zealand’s most successful television drama series.
