The IHC art awards are an important means for fostering public awareness that people with an intellectual disability have unique and important perspectives on the world that are often communicated through unique and inspirational ways.

The IHC Telecom Art Awards were established in 2004 to nurture and recognise creativity from New Zealanders with an intellectual disability. The awards are also achieving another important goal — fostering public awareness of the extraordinary perspectives of the world which these artists have to offer.

The annual IHC Telecom Art Awards is now an established feature on New Zealand’s art calendar. This important exhibition event has assisted the professional careers of a number of artists, resulting in further exhibitions and commissions, while also succeeding in giving these artists increased confidence in themselves and their work.

The exhibition features a selection of highly original artworks, in a variety of media. ‘Fresh, confident and emotional’ is how the judges described this year’s entries.

To view all the artworks in the IHC Telecom Art Awards 2007 and to find out more about the award winners and judging panel please go to the IHC website http://www.ihc.org.nz/.

*Please note that the online auction is now closed.
