Bequests and DonationsBequestsA place in your will The Auckland Museum has been developed and shaped over the course of its life by the generosity of individuals and families. When it was finally decided to build a Museum and a War Memorial here in the Auckland Domain, the citizens of the Auckland provincial area dug deep in their pockets to provide funds for its construction. The Auckland Savings Bank, the Auckland City Council and the Sir John Logan Campbell Trust were (and currently still are) significant donors. Behind many of the objects you are familiar with from the best known to the small personal treasures, often lies a legacy. Legacies are an effective way of keeping the very heart of this respected institution beating and guaranteeing the long-term future of the Auckland Museum. By leaving a gift in your will to the Auckland Museum, you can bring both ancient and recent history alive for children and adults alike and create a deeper understanding and admiration for the achievements of other civilisations. You can chose to direct your financial gift to a specific area in the Museum´s work or you can leave an object to one of the various collections. A legacy, whatever size, is a special gift. Recently the Museum Trust Board launched an Endowment and Bequest Trust Fund. The principal fund is the Special Purposes Fund. This will be applied by the Trust Board to a wide variety of special purposes over and above core Museum operations, and the Board may apply the Fund to any one or combination of Acquisition, Education, Research, Buildings and Equipment.
