Celebrate Franklin
Celebrate Franklin is the inaugural exhibition of Franklin: The Centre, a dynamic new community venue.
This outreach exhibition was initiated by the Auckland Museum in support of the Territorial Local Authority. Celebrate Franklin is a visual celebration of the history and development of the region and the result of a collaborative partnership between the Auckland Museum and Franklin.
The defining features of the Franklin landscape are seen in the aerial photographs of James Siers and the rural character of the district is evident in the iconic colour photographs of Robin Morrison. Celebrate Franklin includes drawings and watercolours by John Johnson, John Kinder and photographs by M Higginson which reveal the rich history of the region. Franklin's past is further explored in 'Mission Stations' and 'Road to War'. The community is also presented in the work of local photographers Joy Stott, Aliah Jan, Pixie Craig and Jan Meiklejohn among others. Celebrate Franklin features a wealth of images of the Franklin region, its history and the local community. |
