What are Auckland Museum's opening hours? The Museum is open every day from 10am until 5pm, except Christmas Day (25 December) and Anzac Day morning (25 April), when the Museum is closed to visitors.
How much does it cost to visit the Museum? A $10 donation is suggested from adults, Aucklanders will not be asked to make an admission contribution. Read more », children are free. Special exhibition charges may apply.
What sort of things can I see at Auckland Museum? Experience the story of New Zealand, from our unique flora and fauna and our history at war, to our priceless collection of Maori and Pacific treasures. Highlights include our now extinct giant flightless bird, the Moa; the last great Maori war canoe used in battle, and two authentic World War Two aircraft, a Mitsubishi Zero and a Packard Merlin Mark XVI Spitfire. Two award-winning Stevenson Discovery Centres provide hands-on fun for visitors of all ages.
Can I get a tour of Auckland Museum? Yes, an hour-long highlights tour leaves from the Museum foyer everyday at 10.30am. Tours cost $10 for adults, $5 for children.
What about disability access? Wheelchairs are available (subject to availability) from the security desk in the front Foyer. See the Access section for the sign language video and more information.
Can I take photographs inside the Museum? Photography is permitted inside the Museum for personal use only. The use of tripods is discouraged. Please contact the Museums marketing department if you wish to use a tripod or would like to take images for commercial purposes.
Can I take my bag into the Museum? All bags over a certain size must be checked into the Museums bag and coat check for security purposes. If you are unsure, please check in with Security on your arrival.
