Micheal Tuffery is well known for integrating contemporary and traditional concepts into his artworks. His primary objective is to encourage discussion within communities about universal issues and transcend cultural boundaries. He explores these serious issues by using familiar stereotypes and clichés of a sun-drenched paradise to expose the realities of island life – subsistence economies, environmental damage and the long-term impact of colonisation on indigenous culture.
