Become a Volunteer

For those people with the time and the will to learn and share, there are unique opportunities available at Auckland Museum.

By choosing to be a volunteer, you support the treasures of the Museums collections, the importance of its war memorials and the unique cultural heritage represented by the Museum. Your voluntary commitment will bring greater knowledge, more understanding, and the pleasure of new encounters that enable you to share this heritage with others.

As a volunteer you will be welcomed and looked after by the Museums Volunteer Coordinator and the Museum team. Youll also get to know many Museum staff during the comprehensive volunteer training programme.

How to apply

While initial acceptance of your application is subject to certain criteria being met, every effort is made to accommodate individual interests, strengths and busy lifestyles.

To register your interest in becoming a Museum Volunteer please download the Volunteer Application Form here or  contact us to have the form posted to you.  Forms must be completed in your own handwriting.

Meet Colleen...

Always smiling and full of energy, Colleen Wliiams has been volunteering at the Museum for over 11 years. For her, its a real pleasure to show visitors from other places what the Museum has to offer and a great source of pride when they have been impressed with the Maori artefacts, culture and history.
