Once we faced each other across the trenches in World War I, British and German machine guns. We each existed to kill the other’s operator, and maybe we succeeded. But wars end and so do exhibitions. Now we sit side by side, stored according to type not nationality, decommissioned symbols of war’s ultimate futility.
