Dress For Success
Talk about cast offs! This delightful outfit was first worn by Dame Catherine Tizard at her inauguration as New Zealand’s first female Governor-General in 1990. Ever the charitable sort, Dame Cath then donated the clothes to an outfit called Dress For Success, which helps women look the part for job interviews if they haven’t the budget to make their own fashion statement. A worthy cause, then, but the people at Dress For Success recognised the historical significance of the outfit and got in touch with the museum – off the peg, out of the closet, back in the limelight again.
