Spin Doctor
I once belonged to a Dr Grace De Courcy, who gave me to the museum in 1938. But I was originally from County Donegal in Ireland, where I was used to spin the wool that was made into the famous Donegal tweed, a rugged and waterproof fabric ideal for outdoor wear. Perfect for New Zealand’s climate, too, but by the time I got here machines would have taken over my work.
