In the SwimBack in the 1950s we were all the rage. No woman would be seen without one of us on her head to protect her “do”. We became an art form in our own right – festooned with flowers and decorations, coloured like the ice-cream range in the dairy at the beach where we were worn. Then along came the 1970s when women really let their hair down – and let it get wet – and we fell out of fashion. Do you think we’ll ever make a comeback?
