Talking TurkeyBehold the feather of the famously extinct Huia ... well, maybe not. For some time this feather and others like it were used to teach school children about the Huia, much to the astonishment of one of the new education curators, who would count and inspect every barb and quill on the feathers in case they’d been damaged. This was until it was explained that, in fact, these were ordinary old turkey feathers that had been cut down and painted to resemble those of the Huia. So the schoolboy who suggested we might be able to revive the Huia by cloning DNA from one of its feathers might have been in for a surprise had his Jurassic Park dreams come true!
