The Frog Prints
I was once one of the star attractions on display in a gallery called “Civilizations”. A golden frog from Panama – how exotic! Visitors lingered over me, admiring my precious craftsmanship ... but some went a little further. One night when the museum was all locked up, thieves broke through the outside door into the gallery itself. They smashed my glass case, grabbed me and fled into the night. What would happen to me? Would I be sold on the black market, melted down or smuggled out of the country? Well, in the end I was probably just thrown away. You see, I was a replica of the real thing. The curators in their wisdom had decided not to display the original me – only the label in my display case didn’t say so. Imagine the surprise and disappointment of my kidnappers when they discovered I was merely painted plaster! It made a great newspaper story, and I was famous for a little while. And now? Well, I guess you could say you’re looking at a replica of a replica ... and we’re not telling where the real frog is, that’s for sure.
