It is by the famous Victorian biologist Thomas Huxley (grandfather of Aldous “Brave New World” Huxley and champion of Charles Darwin), illustrated by B. Waterhouse Hawkins, and was intended to aid students of biology comprehend the structure of bird skeletons.
