Abel Klinger Globe (1860)

This extraordinary map of the southern hemisphere was engraved by one William Faden in 1790 and depicts the known land masses of the time – New Holland (later Australia), South America, southern Africa and Antarctica. The globe is younger, made around 1860, from the Nuremberg globe-making firm of Abel-Klinger, and possibly brought to New Zealand from Scotland not long after. Well, at least they knew how to find the place by then ...
