The Weird & Wonderful Discovery Centre is a place you can explore the sometimes weird, but always wonderful, world of nature. Find out about the evolution of humans and other life on earth.
Weird & Wonderful isn’t like any ordinary museum gallery, it’s a place where you are encouraged to look and touch, to listen and feel. It’s a place of extraordinary exploration and dazzling discovery, a place where you can learn and have a lot of fun too!
Get up close and personal with all sorts of living creatures. See and smell crawling cockroaches, see and feel squirming mealworms. You’ll also find fresh and saltwater tanks brimming with river and sea life, gorgeous green geckos, shiny skinks and many other fabulous live plants and animals. Open drawers crammed full of bugs and birds, mammals and molluscs. You can touch a real elephant tooth, examine fossils and all sorts of bones or just sit back and read a book!
If you want to know more about something, just ask one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff. Whether you want to identify a strange spider or find out what the frogs had for lunch, our staff are there to help.
Note: Parents or guardians shall provide supervision and care for children under the age of 14 while attending the Museum. The Museum does not accept responsibility for any children left unattended.
