ANZAC Day Events
The Auckland War Memorial Museum, the RSA and Auckland City Council mark ANZAC Day, Sunday 25 April, with a series of services and commemorative events. The Museum will again open immediately after the dawn service, enabling Aucklanders to further commemorate the day.
No donation will be asked for on this day. View the ANZAC Day Programme.
ANZAC Projection: Peter Jackson's Restored Gallipoli Film
Friday 23, Saturday 24, Sunday 25 April 7.30pm - 10pm Northern Façade
The centrepiece of the 2010 commemorations will be the projection onto the outside of the Museum, Heroes of Gallipoli, the rare cine-film restored by Peter Jackson. The Museum will also project rare footage of the Pioneer Battalion being welcomed home on Auckland Domain by Ngati Whatua.
Visitors are invited to watch this unique 20-minutes film and footage from the steps of the Cenotaph and Court of Honour. The film will also be screening inside the Grand Foyer on the 23rd and 24th with activities for the children. More »

Lest We Forget Poetry Competition
This year sees our 5th annual Lest We Forget Poetry Competition, run in conjunction with Auckland City Libraries. This year we received another poignant collection of personal responses to war. The Finalists have been notified and are invited to read their poems in the Hall of Memories on ANZAC Day. More about the competition » |

Guided Tours: War Memorial Galleries
On ANZAC Day, our knowledgeable guides are providing free tours of the war memorial galleries - Scars on the Heart. The tours leave from the Armoury at 8am, 9am, 10am, noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
