World on Your Plate: Indian
Saturday 14 August, 2010
There is nothing quite like the spice of India. The riot of intense flavours and colours of Indian cuisine is a metaphor for the country itself. The nation’s geography, customs and religions, along with neighbouring cultures, have been embraced and absorbed to shape contemporary Indian food. This Kai to Pie Saturday visitors enjoyed a flavourful journey through India. Chef and broadcaster Bharat Jamnadas treated visitors to a cooking demonstration and tastings of pakoras while the atrium hummed to the beat of live classical Indian music, colourful performances from the Anuradha School of Dance and Auckland Bhangra Boys.
