Tala Pasifika

Kia orana, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Ni sa bula vinaka, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Taloha ni

Tala Pasifika uses multimedia, storytelling, objects, images, movement and dance to examine aspects of Pasifika identity.

Tala Pasifika draws on the collections of the Auckland Museum and the qualifications and experiences of our Guest Educators from Auckland’s Pasifika communities.

A visit to Tala’s ‘fale’ is central to the programme. Here students help with preparations for a wedding – they prepare gifts and food, dress for the occasion and share in the excitement while experiencing the traditions and ceremony of this special family occasion.

They have opportunities in Tala’s ‘fale’ to question, to handle objects, and to participate in gifting and dance, to produce art, to explore, sing and celebrate.
