A T. rex Named Sue comes to Auckland Museum from the Field Museum in Chicago. She’s the largest, most complete and best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex fossil ever found. And she’s spending summer with us!
Sue, one of the most fearsome flesh-eater to have inhabited the Earth, roamed North America about 67 million years ago. This ‘Tyrant Lizard King’, ith her extraordinarily powerful jaws and massive serrated steak-knife-like teeth, will terrify and fascinate visitors of all ages.
A dramatic, full-sized cast of Sue’s 12.8 metre-long and 3.6-metre high skeleton forms the centrepiece of the exhibition, which is surrounded by interactive displays exploring the palaeontology that has helped scientists reconstruct Sue’s life and legacy.
