In this photograph taken just before his embarkation in September 1915 Lieutenant Harry Dansey is wearing an officers Service Dress tunic with a single embroidered star on his sleeve denoting his rank as Lieutenant. He wears an officers Service Dress cap with the black and red distinguishing patch of the New Zealand Maori Contingent. He wears a Sam Browne belt and holds a walking stick and gloves, both indicative of his officer status.
