Toki. Adze. A toki is a multipurpose tool used for carving wood and other materials. Carved from basalt toka (stone), this toki is dark grey in colour and triangular in cross-section. It has a moderately sharp cutting edge with chipping all the way along with a steep bevel. Long blade, square in shape, moderate level polish. The blade is long and square in shape with a prominent shoulder before reducing towards the butt. The butt and poll of this toki are left flaked and roughly pecked. Surface treatment consists of low to moderate level polish all over.
