      Kapu akari. Two pieces of coconut shell. High polish. Wedge shaped. Mid to dark brown in colour. There are two triangular shapes carved into the outside of fragment 50796.2. A white coloured substance is inside the shapes. A rectangular piece of material is stuck above each of the trigular shapes. A trigular shape has also been carved into the outside of fragment 50796.1. The end of the fragment has been broken off.

      A white coloured substance is also visible inside the carved area. "557/32 Dr. H. NORTHCROFT 50795 [changed into 50796] N. COOKS 50796" is written in black ink on the inside of fragment 50796.1. A small paper label with "50796.1" (ethnology number) is stuck on the bottom left corner of the object. "N. COOK IS. Dr. HILDA NORTHCROFT 557/32" is written in black ink on the inside of fragment 50796.2. Old markings that read "50976" and "5057[?]" are visible on the inside of fragment 50796.2. A small paper label with "50796.2" (ethnology number) is stuck on the bottom left corner of the object. 50796.1 is in fair condition overall. 50796.2 is in good condition overall.
