  • Description

    i Wau Sali. War club. This i Wau Sali is carved from kau (wood) into a spurred head and long curved shaft and capped butt. A central ridge is carved on the top surface of the head and a smaller ridge in between the spur and the head. Decorative carving in light relief on the underside of the head in a pattern of small circular nodes in series, and at the grip end in tavatava (zigzag) design. The i Wau Sali is dark brown in colour.

    This Label adhered to the surface reads: "This is one of the oldest clubs in Fiji, handed down for many generations and dates back several hundreds of years."
