Yame ni Matau. Adze blade. Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is carved from vatu (stone) and dark grey in colour, long and narrow with an circular cross-section. Yame ni Matau is possibly unfinished, and possibly has a mildly sharp cutting edge, with a rounded blade, with the butt, sides of blade, and the cutting edge left pecked.
