    Tapa beater (English)

  • Description

    Ike. Bark cloth beater. Used for pounding and producing sheets of masi (bark cloth). Carved from solid kau (wood). Long and triangular in cross section with a tapered handle. Brown in colour. Three-sided, with all sides with grooves spaced approximately 3mm, one side with grooves spaced 3mm to 7mm apart.
