Yame ni Matau. Adze blade. Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is carved from vatu (stone) and is grey in colour, with a rectangular cross-section. Yame ni Matau has a sharp cutting edge, with a steep bevel, and with a flat blade. Yame ni Matau has a low to moderate level polish all over, with the sides of blade, and the front and back of the poll left flaked. The butt is left pecked, and is partially left flaked.
