Kete. Bag. For carrying personal items. Rectangular shape. Made from natural and dyed-brown strips of rauara (pandanus leaf) that is braided and twisted into cord. Commencement from the base of the kete with the cord wefts woven upwards to build up the body of the kete. Structural akamanea (decorative) elements centred in the middle of the kete with two natural bands of rauara alternating with three 'bands' of open space contrasted against the dyed-brown of colour of the rest of the kete. A brown zip is hand sewn into the rim to enable sealing of the kete. Two tatai (handles) of plant fibre-based cord attached to the kete. Purchased from Island Craft Ltd stall at Pasifika Festival in 2001.
