Te kaneati

human history

Rabatan te kaneati. Shank component of a fishing lure. This rabatan is cut and ground from aubunga (clam shell) into a small bullet form approximately 71mm in length. It is triangular in cross section. The rabatan reduces to a perforated point at its top end and a cuffed, notched feature at the base end at which a hook point would be lashed to complete the kaneati (fishing lure). The rabatan is white in colour with an orange tinge towards the perforated end.
