Stamped in faded black to inner upper of pouch: "Auckland Women's Patriotic League"
This is a receptacle for holding needles, pins, safety pins, buttons and thread etc for men in the field to alter or mend their own clothing. They were rolled up and tied with the tapes for easy transport and storage.
