    Fish Hook (English)

  • Description

    Matau. One piece pearl shell hook. The matau is curved and sharpened to a point, with line attached of plant fibre and nape (coconut sennit) lashed to the top of the shank. The line is dark in colour, thickly braided, with a loop at the top for grip. The parau (pearl shell) is dark with an iridescent sheen and polished surface.
