    Dessert service set.

    Made by Davenport Potteries. Formerly belonging to the family of the late Sir Donald McLean, reputed to have been used at a banquet held in Auckland at the opening of the first New Zealand Parliament, 1854.

    Twelve pieces made from white porcelain with transfer designs of Lilium pattern: lily flowers with leaves and floral buds, coloured in black, white, yellow, pink, and green. Crazing is visible.

    .1 is a fruit dish on a foot with scalloped edges painted gold. Floral transfers on the top. The edges of the scalloped foot has a meander boarder in blue and gold. Foot is hollow. Inside the foot is a transfer makers mark with the word: LILIUM in an oval shape with text below: DAVENPORT

    .2 is a fruit dish on a foot with scalloped edges painted gold. Floral transfers on the top. The edges of the scalloped foot has a meander boarder in blue and gold. Foot is hollow. Inside the foot is a transfer makers mark with the word: LILIUM in an oval shape with text below: DAVENPORT

    .3-.9 are plates with scalloped edges. They are scalloped with wide slanted rims. They are on faint circular foots. They are designed with floral transfer designs. The undersides have transfer makers mark with the word: LILIUM in an oval shape with text below: DAVENPORT

    .10 is a serving dish on a pedestal with scalloped edges painted gold. Floral transfers in the bowl of the dish and around the outside. The edges of the scalloped base has a meander boarder in blue and gold. Inner pedestal is hollow. Inside is a transfer makers mark with the word: LILIUM in an oval shape with text below: DAVENPORT

    .11 is a serving dish. Transferred floral designs. Oval shaped top on a short flared foot. Scalloped edges.

    .12 is a serving dish. Transferred floral designs. Oval shaped top on a short flared foot. Scalloped edges. Evidence of a repair with a long crack across one side and yellowing glue in crack.
