Ulufuamiti

human history
  • Other Name

    Round headed club (English)

  • Description

Ulufuamiti. Round headed club. This ulufuamiti has been fashioned from wood and as its name suggests features a slightly bulbous or rounded section that has been carved out at the top end, with a sharp point extending from it. The body or shaft of the ulufuamiti is cylindrical in shape and tapers to a point at the opposite end as well. The wood of the ulufuamiti is a reddish brown colour but has patches or sections that are darker in colour.

There are also some white/grey and red stains or marks on the wood. The entire exterior surface is dotted with small holes or bores created by pests. In addition to this there are two long cracks that run along the length of the club as well as some smaller cracks on the pointed tips. Aside from these features, the surface of the ulufuamiti is smooth in texture and slightly polished.
