[three] confectionary baskets of loosely woven split bamboo display a charming sensitivity of shape and line. the ones in plates 57 and 59 are from the city of Fukui, on the Sea of Japan not ery far from Kyoto; the other, from Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. Similar packaging with split bamboo can be seen almost everywhere in Japan.
