  • Description

    Ruatangaeo. Hafted adze (adze missing). An intricately carved wooden haft. Square pedestal base and shape. Top of the haft carved out to accommodate the fitting of an adze. Puru akari (braided coconut sennit) of a fine flat iri taki toru (3-ply braid) lashed on to the top of the haft. Repeated triangular motifs carved all along the wooden pedestal. The lashing is natural in colour. The wooden haft is stained dark.
