    • The British Commonwealth Occupation Force Japan consisted initially of a brigade group each of Australian, British, Indian, Canadian and New Zealand troops. New Zealand's first army formation was the 9th Infantry Brigade group who arrived in Kure, Japan in March 1946 from Naples, Italy.
