Inside left: Gold embossed insignia. Text reads "Far East Air Force; Royal Air Force. Eastward". Address printed at bottom "Air House, Sime Road, Singapore.". Hand written message reads "Hope the sailing goes well. Also - we do so hope you have your wife back with you now and that she is making a rapid recovery to normal.".
Inside (opposite): Printed text reads "With best wishes for Christmas and the New Year from Air Marshal Sir Francis and Lady Fogarty". Both names have been crossed out and written below "Joe and Fenella Fogarty".

Francis "Joe" Fogarty (1899-1973) was a senior commander in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. During the post-war years, he was stationed in Great Britain and Italy. From 1949 to 1952 he was Air Marshal of the Far East Air Force, where he faced the challenges of the Malayan Emergency.
