This collection is comprised of approximately 11 linear metres of legal correspondence, deeds and probates, including a notarial index containing customs-type information submitted by the visiting ship's Master soon after arrival at the ports of Auckland (1865-1906) [Note: An index to this volume is available on card catalogue (New Zealand Reference Index) in the Museum Library Reading Room]
The bulk of the Jackson Russell collection is comprised of 147 volumes of legal correspondence (1860-1919); a further four volumes of Wills (1880-1929); and approximately 2,500 deeds (1843-1939), containing leases, mortgages, conveyances, transfers, Powers of Attorney, agreements for partnerships, deeds of apprenticeship, certificates and sundry probates.
