  • Subject Notes
Though only four bookplates by Spare are recorded, there are probably more. One was for M. Robert Boss; another depicting Pan, clothed and seated, playing his pipes, with a silhouette portrait below - was for Demond Coke, author of "the Art of Silhouette, 1913; and two were for Pickford Waller (who like coke also has a bookplate by Lovat Fraser, and a great many others by Guthrie). The first by Waller ex-libris is this design of 1905; the second shows a bust of Pan, armless with thorny branches below and is dated 1923.
