World Water Monitoring Day

Date: 15 September 2011

MEDIA RELEASE

Museum putting Auckland’s water under the microscope for World Water Monitoring Day.

Auckland Museum is marking World Water Monitoring Day and Conservation Week by taking a close look at what’s in Auckland’s water.

In conjunction with Wai Care & Landcare, Auckland Museum is inviting visitors to find out everything they ever wanted to know about our water but were afraid to ask.

Water from our region will be examined and tested by scientists with the results shared firsthand with museum visitors.

Participants in the museum’s free World Water Monitoring Day event can even have a go at ‘dipping’ for water at the site of Auckland’s first water source – the Domain ponds and streams.

Auckland Museum’s team of curators will also be on hand to reveal the diversity of plant and marine life living in our waterways.

Join the museum for a day of discovery and decide whether New Zealand’s water deserves the “100% pure” label.

The museum’s international exhibition AQUA, co-created by ONE DROP and the makers of Cirque du Soleil, will also be running shows every half-hour throughout Sunday. (AQUA tickets: Adults $15 Children $5)
