Museum open for business as usual
Date: 5 March 2013
Auckland Museum’s visiting hours will remain unchanged during the set-up, performance and pack-down of the Auckland Arts Festival ‘Breath of the Volcano’ show (by Groupe F) in the Domain in early March. The museum’s iconic building will feature in 3 performances of the spectacular show, to be staged on 7-9 March by the celebrated French pyrotechnics company Groupe F. Whether they come on foot, by bike, car or bus, the public and visitors to Auckland will still be able to visit the museum from 10am till 5pm each day. Preparations for ‘Breath of the Volcano’ start in the Domain on 1 March. Temporary fencing will go up and parking spaces at the museum for tourist coaches and school group buses will move from the west side of the building to the east. From 5.30pm each night, the road which runs on the west side of the museum will be closed till the morning. The grassed hill to the west and south of the museum will be a fireworks firing zone during the shows, and will be closed from 1-12 March. For health and safety reasons, other land surrounding the museum will be closed to the public shortly prior to and immediately after each show and each rehearsal. The Domain will return to normal by 12 March. Read more about ‘Breath of the Volcano’ on the Arts Festival''''s website .
