Students will explore some of the unique celebrations and ceremonies that Pacific people practise in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Students will explore some of the unique celebrations and ceremonies that Pacific people practise in Aotearoa New Zealand. Learn the meanings and interpretations embedded in the hair-cutting ceremony of the Cook Islands or the ear-piercing ceremony of Niue.

In this programme students will:

  • engage with handling objects that are part of these exciting celebrations
  • explore the traditions, histories and stories of these ceremonies
  • participate in the preparations of gifts, music and dance.
